The scheme provided a complex clad façade integrating the use of various cladding finishes creating a challenging design at interfaces. JML Building Services were involved in the stage 1 design development quickly establish a more robust, buildable and commercially beneficial solution, enabling the architectural intent to be carried out.
Traditional SFS and CP Board was removed with a Eurbond Rainspan panel being utilised as the cladding sub-structure giving a more robust air seal solution and satisfying fire performance criteria but still allowing the varying façades to be affixed thereto.
6.5m continuous Polycarbonate Cladding was installed to 60% of the façade allowing multicoloured mood lighting to be installed within to provide a dramatic backdrop.
A further 3 differing cladding product were used to complete the façade.
The new facility included 12 international standard multi-sport court, including international-standard netball courts and bleacher-style seating for 700 spectators. A fully operational gym open to the public in now in operation providing a great sport and leisure venue for not just the University but for the local community.
JML also undertook the refurbishment works to the existing sports to include a 120-station fitness gym, two aerobics/spin studios, a martial arts combat gym and enhanced changing facilities.
A fine example of JML’s adaptability in both design and construction phase.
