St Georges Hall, Bradford Theatre

JML were initially appointed to undertake the drylining package to transform the historic Grade II listed St George’s Concert Hall. The iconic West Yorkshire theatre originally built in 1853 stood as one of the oldest theatre venues in the UK but required major refurbishment.

We were tasked with delivering a full refurbishment of the auditorium and front of house areas, in keeping with the building traditions with lime plaster being used.

Soon into the construction it was established that 165-year-old building did not conform with current building regulations and needed extensive work to bring it inline.

We quickly established a method in conjunction with Henry Boot Construction and the building control and undertook the fire proofing package throughout the main auditorium, back of house and bar area.

This scheme was one of many shortlisted for the RICS awards in 2019.
